Blog anxiety!

Updated: Jul 29, 2019

Prism psychology is thrilled to be writing our first ever blog!

The pressure to make this interesting and captivating is a bit overwhelming though! We live in an age where everything is portrayed in the best light - selfies with filters, all the good times posted all over social media and pages filled with pictures of people with their perfect happy families.

Sometimes it can feel hard to keep up with that, and actually it's hard for a reason; those images are from a reality that doesn't exist.

We put so much pressure on ourselves to be the best, the most attractive, the most intelligent and the best paid. We want to have the most polite children, wear the best clothes, work the hardest, achieve the most, drive the biggest car, and even, write the best blogs!

Stepping out of this comfort zone can be scary, but it's a step towards accepting yourself, imperfections and all. We don't always have to be the best, in fact, we cant be! These are unachievable goals and if we consistently set them for ourselves, we're always going to fail and feel miserable or not good enough.

Its hard to be vulnerable, but it's also the only way to be authentically you and by doing that, opening yourself up to contentment and better relationships.

Here's a link to Brene Brown talking about this exact thing, so have a watch and be brave enough to be your most wonderfully average but good enough in every way self!!
