The area I've spent longest in

Specialist expertise in eating disorders

Eating disorders are the area I've spent longest in. Eight years in NHS eating disorder services, CBT-E trained, working across anorexia, bulimia, binge eating disorder and ARFID — including where eating difficulties sit alongside autism or ADHD. Every piece of work starts with understanding, not a label.

What I help with

Difficulties I work with

Every piece of work starts with understanding, not a label. These are some of the reasons people get in touch.

  • Anxiety and panic
  • Depression and low mood
  • Trauma and PTSD
  • Obsessive-compulsive difficulties
  • Self-esteem and self-criticism
  • Bereavement and loss
  • Life transitions and adjustment
  • Long-term health conditions
  • Weight and eating

I work with a wider range of psychological difficulties too. If you're unsure whether I might be the right person, you're welcome to ask.

How I work

One approach doesn't fit everyone

I'm trained in more than one therapy, which means we can choose the approach that fits you rather than the one I happen to offer. Often we'll work integratively, drawing on elements of several.

Choosing the right approach is a joint decision. I'll bring my clinical experience, the research evidence and best-practice guidelines; you'll bring the expertise on your own life. Between us we build a plan that's yours.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

Practical work on the thoughts and behaviours keeping a problem going.

Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT)

Structured work on relationships, roles, grief and change.

EMDR

Processing traumatic memories so they no longer carry the same charge.

Schema Therapy

Working with long-standing patterns formed early in life.

Self-paced learning

Online courses

Alongside one-to-one therapy I write and teach online courses — some for anyone working through a difficult time, some accredited CPD for fellow psychologists and therapists.

Specialist experience. Individual understanding.

Every piece of work starts with understanding, not a label — what the difficulty is doing, what keeps it in place, and what would need to shift. That picture is almost always more logical than people expect.

Not sure where to start?

Most people feel a bit apprehensive before a first contact. You don't have to know what's wrong or how to describe it — a short email is enough to begin.

I'm not able to offer crisis support. If you need urgent help, contact your GP, call NHS 24 on 111, or call 999 in an emergency. See urgent support options
